my name is Tony Loayza and i am the Director of Marketing & Business Development at Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union in Houston, TX. i feel fortunate to be in my position since i only just graduated from college, at the University of Houston, in December of 2002. i have a great mentor, a Scotsman named Jamieson Mackay and a wonderful assistant, a long time friend by the name of Ann Burton. oh, and i can't forget that i have also just started on my MBA and the University of Houston Clear Lake. basically, i made a conscious decision to make my life worse :-)

a brief timeline of my life up to now:

i was born in Manhassett, NY after my mom came over from Peru eight months pregnant. i like to say that i was manufactured in Peru, but distributed in the United States

my family moved here to Houston when i was in the 1st grade, but i was sent back to kindergarten when i arrived because i was only 5 years old, and you can't start the 1st grade in Houston until you're six

my brother Michael was born the year after we arrived in Houston. That same year i had my first girlfriend

we moved to Alief and i started 3rd grade at Mahanay Elementary where i was picked on because i was the new kid. they didn't pick on me anymore after i beat up the guys who were bullying me :-)

i met my friends Danny and Gino, who i am still friends with today and consider to be my brothers

i started my first year at Killough Middle School

i started my first year at Hasting High School and also started to play guitar seriously somewhere around this time

i graduated from high school and took off to South America for a while

i was back in Houston, but soon left again to start my first year at Baylor University in Waco, TX. the next three years were some of the best times of my life

came back to Houston after changing my major from Psychology to Business and started my first year at the University of Houston

i met my friends Erik, who i also consider to be a brother, and Ann (my assistant), who is my sole confidant throughout the 8 hours i call a work day. i don't have many friends, but am fiercely loyal to those i do have

i graduated from college in December of 2002 with a degree in Marketing

in February i started my job at Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union and bought my first new car ever, a bmw 328i, after buying my first motorcycle ever, a honda cbr600 f4i.

Ann graduated from college in the spring and came to work with me in June

my mom was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer

i started the MBA program at the University of Houston Clear Lake in the Spring.

my mom passed away on January 5th. It's hard to be scared of death now.

that's all i have for now, i'll write more when something else eventful comes up.
